This past summer of 2013, my life long friends and relatives in Vassara began fixing up the abandoned school that sits at the outskirts of the village. Just as I had described on page one of Seasons of Sun,

“Even the abandoned school belongs to me. Forgotten classrooms remain frozen in history behind locked doors.”

Well, no longer. Now the once disregarded building has come alive again, renewed with life after a long slumber.  With a little love and attention, the school breathes with activity, promise and excitement for what is to come in Vassara.  “Bravo” as we say in Greek, to my friends, my cousins, my dear Vassareans who resurrect the school and bring it’s usage into modern day. It is forgotten no longer. How strange and yet how wonderful!
